Your spot

Is it free?

Yes. A 1×1 spot, your pet’s page, likes, comments and a move a month are free. Bigger spots and beacons cost money, and each is paid once, nothing monthly.

How do I get a bigger spot?

Open your pet’s page. On a computer, click “Upgrade spot”, then “Bigger spot”. On a phone, tap “Bigger spot” beside your pet’s name. Pick a size from 2×2 to 10×10, drag it where you want it, and you’ll see the price before you pay. Going bigger later costs only the difference.

What is a beacon?

A beacon is a small light that marks your pet’s spot when the map is zoomed far out; hover to see their name, or click or tap to zoom in. Nearby beacons glow side by side without hiding each other, and your pet’s spot keeps its size and place. A beacon costs $10 for every pet, paid once with no discounts or monthly charges, and you can buy one only for your own pet, not a shelter or adoptable pet. To get one, open your pet’s page, choose “Upgrade spot”, then “Beacon”.

Can I go back to a smaller size?

Yes, free, any time: any size between 1×1 and the biggest one you’ve paid for, and back up again. There are no refunds for going smaller.

Can I move my pet?

Yes, once a month, free. Tap “Move” on your pet’s page and drag it to any open spot; the old spot opens right away.

What are the regions and landmarks?

The map is split into named regions, each its own color. Landmarks are drawings made of squares, like the Bone, and you can claim a 1×1 spot inside one for free.

Why can't I claim next to a landmark?

Every landmark keeps a clear border two squares wide around it so the drawing stays easy to see. Spots inside the landmark are open.

Your pet’s page

How do I add photos, the story, favorites?

Open your pet’s page and tap “Edit page”. You can add up to eight photos, the story and up to eight favorite things.

What are updates and where do they show?

Add a line, photo or TikTok, Instagram or YouTube link from “Add an update about pet’s name” on your pet’s page. It shows only there. To share with everyone, use the box at the top of What’s new; your post stays there, with its comments.

Who can comment, and can I delete a comment?

Anyone can comment with just a name; replies need you to be signed in. Pets looking for a home don’t take comments. You can delete your own comments and any comment on your pet’s page, and report one from its “⋯” menu.

How do I share my pet?

Tap “Share” on your pet’s page to copy the link or send it by Facebook, X, WhatsApp or email; on a phone it opens your share sheet. The address is petarchive.com/number/name, and it shows a card with your pet’s photo.

How do I remove my pet?

Tap “Edit page”, then the red Remove link at the bottom, or use Remove on your account page. The page and photos are deleted, and this can’t be undone.

Pets looking for a home

Where do they come from?

From shelters’ and rescues’ public adoption listings, and from shelters that connect with us. Every one links back to the shelter.

How do I adopt one?

Tap “Adopt” on the pet’s page to go to the shelter’s own page and apply there. The adoption is between you and the shelter.

What does Save do?

Save keeps a pet in Saved pets, in your account. Only you can see it. If you’re signed out, we first send a link to confirm your email.

Why did a pet disappear?

The shelter took the listing down. Usually that means a home was found; we don’t know for sure.

Why do some pets have a number after their name?

When a rescue lists a litter under one name, each pet gets a number so you can tell them apart. Their pages show the rest of the litter.

Why can't I comment on pets looking for a home?

They have no owner here, not even the shelter, so nobody here can answer for them. Questions go to the shelter through the contact details or “Adopt” button on the pet’s page. You can still like and share them.

Ads

Who can advertise?

Anyone with products or services for pets: vets, groomers, trainers, boarding, walkers, pet shops, food, insurance, photographers. Ads that sell animals, or have nothing to do with pets, aren’t accepted.

What does it cost?

You pay by the tile, monthly, and yearly is 20% off. Pick a shape and you’ll see the price before you pay.

How does review work?

We review every ad within two working days of payment. Approved ads go live and we email you; declined ads are refunded in full.

How do I cancel?

Tap “Edit page” on your ad, then “Remove this ad”, or use “Manage subscription”. The ad stays up until the time you’ve paid for runs out.

Your account

How do I sign in?

Tap “Sign in” and enter your email and password. If you forgot your password, tap “Forgot password” to get a reset link by email.

How do I change my email?

Use the form at the bottom of this page with the address you use now, and tell us the new one. We’ll change it for you.

How do I stop emails?

Untick the ones you don’t want under Notifications in your account, or use the unsubscribe link in any of those emails. Sign-in links still come when you ask for one.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings in your account and tap “Delete my account” at the bottom. We email a link to confirm; it removes your pets, their pages and photos, your comments and likes.
