馃惥 Foster or Rescue Transfer Needed: Nursing Mom & Puppies 馃惥
Meet a devoted mama dog who arrived at our shelter with her puppies and was found to have a heavy tick burden upon intake. Despite everything she's been through, she has been focused on caring for her babies and has remained a dedicated mother.
As part of her medical evaluation, she tested positive for Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, and was light positive for Heartworm disease, with microfilariae present. These findings are likely related to the significant tick exposure she experienced prior to arriving at the shelter. She is currently stable, receiving appropriate care, and being monitored by our veterinary team.
Because she is a nursing mother, we are seeking either:
A committed foster home where she can continue raising her puppies in a quiet environment, or. Transfer to a trusted rescue partner experienced with medical cases and heartworm-positive dogs.
Her puppies are not at risk of contracting these diseases through nursing. Our immediate goal is to provide a safe, low-stress environment for this family while planning her ongoing medical care.
This sweet mom deserves the chance to focus on her puppies and begin her recovery journey. If your rescue organization may be able to help, or if you're interested in fostering, please contact us.
