Billy was part of a hoarding case and stayed at DAS while the investigation was completed. The shelter environment was overwhelming for him, and he didn’t do well amid all the stress and chaos. Because of his behavior in the shelter, Billy was scheduled for euthanasia. Frightened and unsure, he reacted the only way he knew how, making it easy for others to overlook the cat he truly is.
Once Billy arrived in a foster home, everything began to change. With a calm environment and the chance to decompress at his own pace, his true personality slowly started to shine. Day by day, he became more relaxed, more trusting, and more comfortable with the people around him.
Today, Billy is discovering what a normal life in a loving home can be like. He enjoys pets and affection and is learning that humans can be a source of comfort and love. He even surprised his foster mom by being completely unbothered by a medium-sized dog! Billy has a quiet but strong personality, and he could be a wonderful mentor to another cat.
Billy is FIV-positive, but this is not a concern for other cats in the home. He is looking for a patient, loving family who will continue to help him build his confidence and enjoy the safe, happy life he deserves. After all he’s been through, this resilient boy is ready to begin his next chapter as a beloved companion.
