10/29 Doggie Day Out:

Friendly, affectionate, lap-dog, explorer, active, curious, confident, playful, enjoys being petted, not leash reactive, not resource protective (with toys) Very curious about the Capitol Park squirrels, naturally! Humphry seems like a very adaptable dog. I was surprised it was his first outing. It was mine too through this program and it could not have been better! He only seemed anxious, naturally, when the handoff happened and it was time to go into the car. It took a little bit of time but the car ride was great and he seemed to really settle quickly! On our walk alongside the river he would look back at me as if he were checking in. He’s treat and toy motivated! We started at Sutter’s landing for a very long walk. We stopped by a beachy area since no one was out (he was leashed the whole time). He played with his toy and wanted lots of snuggles on the beach. He seemed open to the water, walking in it briefly. He wasn’t reactive or lunging towards ducks and geese. Every bench we sat on, he needed to be right now to me. He was so so loving! We stopped by Fremont park on the way home and sat on a bench by the playground. The noises of the children nearby didn’t seem to phase him! We also walked through the ice blocks! I brought him home again for a little bit before dropping him back off. He took a couple of brief snoozes from the river to midtown, and from midtown to Front Street. He was fast asleep, snoring and all in the car for a few minutes before someone from the shelter came out to pick him up.
