Meet Danso!
Breed: Jindo mix. Age: 2 years. Gender: Female. Weight: 31 lb Height: 24 inches. Highlight(s): Friendly, gentle and affectionate
Hi, I’m Danso! I arrived at a city pound in May 2024 with my mom and three siblings. I was just a tiny puppy back then, and believe it or not, I’ve spent the past two and a half years waiting for someone to give me a chance. I’ve never experienced life in a home or had a foster family, and I’m really hoping my forever family is out there!
I’m a sweet, gentle girl who can be a little shy at first. Give me some patience, gentle attention, and tasty treats, and I’ll slowly warm up. Once I trust you, I’ll happily show you my belly and reveal my more affectionate side! I’m also very gentle with children. Just one little thing: I’m not comfortable being picked up, so I’d appreciate having all four paws on the ground.
I have moderate energy and enjoy outdoor adventures followed by relaxing at home. I’m still learning about the big, busy world, and passing cars and trucks can make me nervous. Quiet neighborhood walks are much more my style for now. I’m also a strong girl on leash, so I’ll need some patient guidance as I work on my walking manners.
I get along well with other dogs, especially those around my size or smaller. I’m happy to say hello and share my space, but I generally prefer human company over playing with other dogs. I may notice cats during walks, but I respond well when my handler redirects me.
I'm crate-trained, about 90% housetrained, rarely bark, and have no resource-guarding issues, escape tendencies, or signs of separation anxiety.
After spending so much of my life waiting, I'm ready to discover what having a family feels like. I don't need a perfect home or grand adventures—just someone willing to give me time, help me build confidence, and show me that I'm finally home. Could you be my first foster or forever family?
I get along with: Dogs: Yes. Cats: Unsure. Kids: Yes
Energy level: Moderate - enjoys outdoor activities and like to rest/calm at home after walks.
Fears: Non observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition. Leash skills: I tend to pull strongly on the leash, so please be patient with me and continue working on my leash manners. House trained: 90% house trained. Please be paitient and prepare to assist me learn where to go in my new home.
Health notes: I have been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.
My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.
Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.
Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.
Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.
The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.
Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.
Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.
